The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love{(G5719)} in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known{(G5761)} the truth;

For the truth's sake, which dwelleth{(G5723)} in us, and shall be{(G5704)} with us for ever.

Grace be{(G5704)} with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

I rejoiced{(G5644)} greatly that I found{(G5758)} of thy children walking{(G5723)} in truth, as we have received{(G5627)} a commandment from the Father.

And now I beseech{(G5719)} thee, lady, not as though I wrote{(G5719)}{(G5625)}{(G5723)} a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had{(G5707)} from the beginning, that we love{(G5725)} one another.

And this is{(G5748)} love, that we walk{(G5725)} after his commandments. This is{(G5748)} the commandment, That, as ye have heard{(G5656)} from the beginning, ye should walk{(G5725)} in it.

For many deceivers are entered{(G5627)} into the world, who confess{(G5723)} not that Jesus Christ is come{(G5740)} in the flesh. This is{(G5748)} a deceiver and an antichrist.

Look{(G5720)} to yourselves, that we lose{(G5661)} not those things which we have wrought{(G5662)}, but that we receive{(G5632)} a full reward.

Whosoever transgresseth{(G5723)}, and abideth{(G5723)} not in the doctrine of Christ, hath{(G5719)} not God. He that abideth{(G5723)} in the doctrine of Christ, he hath{(G5719)} both the Father and the Son.

If there come{(G5736)} any{G5100} unto you, and bring{(G5719)} not this doctrine, receive{(G5720)} him not into your house, neither{G3361} bid{(G5720)} him God speed{(G5721)}:

For he that biddeth{(G5723)} him God speed{(G5721)} is partaker{(G5719)} of his evil deeds.

Having{(G5723)} many things to write{(G5721)} unto you, I would{(G5675)} not write with paper and ink: but I trust{(G5719)} to come{(G5629)} unto you, and speak{(G5658)} face to face, that our joy may be{(G5753)} full{(G5772)}.
