Now will I sing{(H8799)} to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful{H8081} hill:

And he fenced{(H8762)} it, and gathered out the stones{(H8762)} thereof, and planted{(H8799)} it with the choicest vine, and built{(H8799)} a tower in the midst of it, and also made{(H8804)} a winepress therein: and he looked{(H8762)} that it should bring forth{(H8800)} grapes, and it brought forth{(H8799)} wild grapes.

And now, O inhabitants{(H8802)} of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge{(H8798)}, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.

What could have been done{(H8800)} more to my vineyard, that I have not done{(H8804)} in it? wherefore, when I looked{(H8765)} that it should bring forth{(H8800)} grapes, brought it forth{(H8799)} wild grapes?

And now go to; I will tell{(H8686)} you what I will do{(H8802)} to my vineyard: I will take away{(H8687)} the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up{(H8763)}; and break down{(H8800)} the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

And I will lay{(H8799)} it waste: it shall not be pruned{(H8735)}, nor digged{(H8735)}; but there shall come up{(H8804)} briers and thorns: I will also command{(H8762)} the clouds that they rain{(H8687)} no rain upon it.

For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked{(H8762)} for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

Woe unto them that join{(H8688)} house to house, that lay{(H8686)} field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed{(H8717)} alone in the midst of the earth!

In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant{(H8802)}.

Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield{(H8799)} one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield{(H8799)} an ephah.

Woe unto them that rise up early{(H8688)} in the morning, that they may follow{(H8799)} strong drink; that continue{(H8764)} until night, till wine inflame{(H8686)} them!

And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard{(H8686)} not the work of the LORD, neither consider{(H8804)} the operation of his hands.

Therefore my people are gone into captivity{(H8804)}, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

Therefore hell hath enlarged{(H8689)} herself, and opened{(H8804)} her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend{(H8804)} into it.

And the mean man shall be brought down{(H8735)}, and the mighty man shall be humbled{(H8799)}, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled{(H8799)}:

But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted{(H8799)} in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified{(H8738)} in righteousness.

Then shall the lambs feed{(H8804)} after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers{(H8802)} eat{(H8799)}.

Woe unto them that draw{(H8802)} iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:

That say{(H8802)}, Let him make speed{(H8762)}, and hasten{(H8686)} his work, that we may see{(H8799)} it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh{(H8799)} and come{(H8799)}, that we may know{(H8799)} it!

Woe unto them that call{(H8802)} evil good, and good evil; that put{(H8802)} darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put{(H8802)} bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent{(H8737)} in their own sight!

Woe unto them that are mighty to drink{(H8800)} wine, and men of strength to mingle{(H8800)} strong drink:

Which justify{(H8688)} the wicked for reward, and take away{(H8686)} the righteousness of the righteous from him!

Therefore as the fire devoureth{(H8800)} the stubble, and the flame{H3852} consumeth{(H8799)} the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up{(H8799)} as dust: because they have cast away{(H8804)} the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised{(H8765)} the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled{(H8804)} against his people, and he hath stretched forth{(H8799)} his hand against them, and hath smitten{(H8686)} them: and the hills did tremble{(H8799)}, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away{(H8804)}, but his hand is stretched out{(H8803)} still.

And he will lift up{(H8804)} an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss{(H8804)} unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come{(H8799)} with speed swiftly:

None shall be weary nor stumble{(H8802)} among them; none shall slumber{(H8799)} nor sleep{(H8799)}; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed{(H8738)}, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken{(H8738)}:

Whose arrows are sharp{(H8802)}, and all their bows bent{(H8803)}, their horses' hoofs shall be counted{(H8738)} like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:

Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar{(H8799)}{(H8675)}{(H8804)} like young lions: yea, they shall roar{(H8799)}, and lay hold{(H8799)} of the prey, and shall carry it away safe{(H8686)}, and none shall deliver{(H8688)} it.

And in that day they shall roar{(H8799)} against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look{(H8765)} unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened{(H8804)} in the heavens thereof.
