Isaiah 9

KJV with Strongs (1611 / 1769)

Strong's Interlinear
1
Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted{(H8689)} the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict{(H8689)} her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
2
The people that walked{(H8802)} in darkness have seen{(H8804)} a great light: they that dwell{(H8802)} in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined{(H8804)}.
3
Thou hast multiplied{(H8689)} the nation, and not increased{(H8689)} the joy: they joy{(H8804)} before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice{(H8799)} when they divide{(H8763)} the spoil.
4
For thou hast broken{(H8689)} the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor{(H8802)}, as in the day of Midian.
5
For every battle of the warrior{(H8802)} is with confused noise, and garments rolled{(H8775)} in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
6
For unto us a child is born{(H8795)}, unto us a son is given{(H8738)}: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called{(H8799)} Wonderful, Counsellor{(H8802)}, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order{(H8687)} it, and to establish{(H8800)} it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform{(H8799)} this.
8
The Lord sent{(H8804)} a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted{(H8804)} upon Israel.
9
And all the people shall know{(H8804)}, even Ephraim and the inhabitant{(H8802)} of Samaria, that say{(H8800)} in the pride and stoutness of heart,
10
The bricks are fallen down{(H8804)}, but we will build{(H8799)} with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down{(H8795)}, but we will change{(H8686)} them into cedars.
11
Therefore the LORD shall set up{(H8762)} the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies{(H8802)} together{(H8770)};
12
The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour{(H8799)} Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away{(H8804)}, but his hand is stretched out still{(H8803)}.
13
For the people turneth{(H8804)} not unto him that smiteth{(H8688)} them, neither do they seek{(H8804)} the LORD of hosts.
14
Therefore the LORD will cut off{(H8686)} from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
15
The ancient and honourable{H5375}{(H8803)}, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth{(H8688)} lies, he is the tail.
16
For the leaders{(H8764)} of this people cause them to err{(H8688)}; and they that are led{(H8794)} of them are destroyed{(H8794)}.
17
Therefore the Lord shall have no joy{(H8799)} in their young men, neither shall have mercy{(H8762)} on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer{(H8688)}, and every mouth speaketh{(H8802)} folly. For all this his anger is not turned away{(H8804)}, but his hand is stretched out still{(H8803)}.
18
For wickedness burneth{(H8804)} as the fire: it shall devour{(H8799)} the briers and thorns, and shall kindle{(H8799)} in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up{(H8691)} like the lifting up of smoke.
19
Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened{(H8738)}, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare{(H8799)} his brother.
20
And he shall snatch{(H8799)} on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat{(H8799)} on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied{(H8804)}: they shall eat{(H8799)} every man the flesh of his own arm:
21
Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away{(H8804)}, but his hand is stretched out still{(H8803)}.
