My brethren, have{(G5720)} not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

For if there come{(G5632)} unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in{(G5632)} also a poor man in vile raiment;

And ye have respect{(G5661)} to him that weareth{(G5723)} the gay clothing, and say{(G5632)} unto him, Sit{(G5737)} thou here in a good place; and say{(G5632)} to the poor, Stand{(G5628)} thou there, or sit{(G5737)} here under my footstool:

Are ye not then partial{(G5681)} in yourselves, and are become{(G5633)} judges of evil thoughts?

Hearken{(G5657)}, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen{(G5668)} the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised{(G5662)} to them that love{(G5723)} him?

But ye have despised{(G5656)} the poor. Do not rich men oppress{(G5719)} you, and draw{G1670}{(G5719)} you before the judgment seats?

Do not they blaspheme{(G5719)} that worthy name by the which ye are called{(G5685)}?

If{G3305} ye fulfil{(G5719)} the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love{(G5692)} thy neighbour as thyself, ye do{(G5719)} well:

But if ye have respect to persons{(G5719)}, ye commit{(G5736)} sin, and are convinced{(G5746)} of the law as transgressors.

For whosoever shall keep{(G5692)} the whole law, and yet offend{(G5692)} in one point, he is{(G5754)} guilty of all.

For he that said{(G5631)}, Do not commit adultery{(G5661)}, said{(G5627)} also, Do not kill{(G5661)}. Now if thou commit no adultery{(G5692)}, yet if thou kill{(G5692)}, thou art become{(G5754)} a transgressor of the law.

So speak ye{(G5720)}, and so do{(G5720)}, as they that shall be{(G5723)} judged{(G5745)} by the law of liberty.

For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed{(G5660)} no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against{(G5736)} judgment.

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say{(G5725)} he hath{(G5721)} faith, and have{(G5725)} not works? can{(G5736)} faith save{(G5658)} him?

If{G1161} a brother or sister be{(G5725)} naked, and destitute{(G5746)}{(G5753)} of daily food,

And one of you say{(G5632)} unto them, Depart{(G5720)} in peace, be ye warmed{(G5728)} and filled{(G5744)}; notwithstanding ye give{(G5632)} them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

Even so faith, if it hath{(G5725)} not works, is{(G5748)} dead, being alone{G1438}.

Yea, a man may say{(G5692)}, Thou hast{(G5719)} faith, and I have{(G5719)} works: shew{(G5657)} me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew{(G5692)} thee my faith by my works.

Thou believest{(G5719)} that there is{(G5748)} one God; thou doest{(G5719)} well: the devils also believe{(G5719)}, and tremble{(G5719)}.

But wilt{(G5719)} thou know{(G5629)}, O vain man, that faith without works is{(G5748)} dead?

Was not Abraham our father justified{(G5681)} by works, when he had offered{(G5660)} Isaac his son upon the altar?

Seest thou{(G5719)} how faith wrought{(G5707)} with his works, and by works was faith made perfect{(G5681)}?

And the scripture was fulfilled{(G5681)} which saith{(G5723)}, Abraham believed{(G5656)} God, and it was imputed{(G5681)} unto him for righteousness: and he was called{(G5681)} the Friend of God.

Ye see{(G5719)} then how that by works a man is justified{(G5743)}, and not by faith only.

Likewise{G1161} also was not Rahab the harlot justified{(G5681)} by works, when she had received{(G5666)} the messengers, and had sent them out{(G5631)} another way?

For as the body without the spirit is{(G5748)} dead, so faith without works is{(G5748)} dead also.
