And he began{(G5662)} to speak{(G5721)} unto them by parables. A certain man planted{(G5656)} a vineyard, and set{(G5656)} an hedge about it, and digged{(G5656)} a place for the winefat, and built{(G5656)} a tower, and let it out{(G5639)} to husbandmen, and went into a far country{(G5656)}.

And at the season he sent{(G5656)} to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive{(G5632)} from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

And they caught{(G5631)} him, and beat{(G5656)} him, and sent him away{(G5656)} empty.

And again he sent{(G5656)} unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones{(G5660)}, and wounded him in the head{(G5656)}, and sent him away{(G5656)} shamefully handled{(G5772)}.

And again he sent{(G5656)} another; and him they killed{(G5656)}, and many others; beating some{(G5723)}, and killing some{(G5723)}.

Having{(G5723)} yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent{(G5656)} him also last unto them, saying{(G5723)}, They will reverence{(G5691)} my son.

But those husbandmen said{(G5627)} among themselves, This{G3778} is{(G5748)} the heir; come{(G5773)}, let us kill{(G5725)} him, and the inheritance shall be{(G5704)} ours.

And they took{(G5631)} him, and killed{(G5656)} him, and cast{(G5627)} him out of the vineyard.

What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do{(G5692)}? he will come{(G5695)} and destroy{(G5692)} the husbandmen, and will give{(G5692)} the vineyard unto others.

And have ye not read{(G5627)} this scripture; The stone which the builders{(G5723)} rejected{(G5656)} is{G1096}{(G5675)} become the head of the corner:

This was the Lord's doing{(G5633)}, and it is{(G5748)} marvellous in our eyes?

And they sought{(G5707)} to lay hold{(G5658)} on him, but feared{(G5675)} the people: for they knew{(G5627)} that he had spoken{(G5627)} the parable against them: and they left{(G5631)} him, and went their way{(G5627)}.

And they send{(G5719)} unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch{(G5661)} him in his words.

And when they were come{(G5631)}, they say{(G5719)} unto him, Master, we know{(G5758)} that thou art{(G5748)} true, and{G4671} carest{G3199}{(G5719)} for no man: for thou regardest{(G5719)} not the person{G4383} of men, but teachest{(G5719)} the way of God in truth: Is it lawful{(G5748)} to give{(G5629)} tribute to Caesar, or not?

Shall we give{(G5632)}, or shall we not give{(G5632)}? But he, knowing{(G5761)} their hypocrisy, said{(G5627)} unto them, Why tempt ye{(G5719)} me? bring{(G5720)} me a penny, that I may see{(G5632)} it.

And they brought{(G5656)} it. And he saith{(G5719)} unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said{(G5627)} unto him, Caesar's.

And Jesus answering{(G5679)} said{(G5627)} unto them, Render{(G5628)} to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled{(G5656)} at him.

Then come{(G5736)} unto him the Sadducees, which say{(G5719)} there is{(G5750)} no resurrection; and they asked{(G5656)} him, saying{(G5723)},

Master, Moses wrote{(G5656)} unto us, If{G1437} a man's brother die{(G5632)}, and leave{(G5632)} his wife behind him, and leave{(G5632)} no children, that his brother should take{(G5632)} his wife, and raise up{(G5661)} seed unto his brother.

Now there were{(G5713)} seven brethren: and the first took{(G5627)} a wife, and dying{(G5723)} left{(G5656)} no seed.

And the second took{(G5627)} her, and died{(G5627)}, neither left{(G5656)} he any seed: and the third likewise.

And the seven had{(G5627)} her, and left{(G5656)} no seed: last of all the woman died{(G5627)} also.

In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise{(G5632)}, whose wife shall she be{(G5704)} of them? for the seven had{(G5627)} her to wife.

And Jesus answering{(G5679)} said{(G5627)} unto them, Do ye not therefore{G5124} err{(G5743)}, because ye know{(G5761)} not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

For when they shall rise{(G5632)} from the dead, they neither marry{(G5719)}, nor are given in marriage{(G5743)}; but are{(G5748)} as the angels which are in heaven.

And as touching the dead, that they rise{(G5743)}: have ye not read{(G5627)} in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake{(G5627)} unto him, saying{(G5723)}, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

He is{(G5748)} not the God of the dead, but the God of the living{(G5723)}: ye therefore do greatly err{(G5743)}.

And one of the scribes came{(G5631)}, and having heard{(G5660)} them reasoning together{(G5723)}, and perceiving{(G5761)} that he had answered{(G5662)} them well, asked{(G5656)} him, Which is{(G5748)} the first commandment of all?

And Jesus answered{(G5662)} him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear{(G5720)}, O Israel; The Lord our God is{(G5748)} one Lord:

And thou shalt love{(G5692)} the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

And the second is like, namely this{(G5625)}, Thou shalt love{(G5692)} thy neighbour as thyself. There is{(G5748)} none other commandment greater than these.

And the scribe said{(G5627)} unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said{(G5627)} the truth: for there is{(G5748)} one God; and there is{(G5748)} none other but he:

And to love{(G5721)} him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love{(G5721)} his neighbour as himself, is{(G5748)} more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

And when Jesus saw{(G5631)} that he answered{(G5662)} discreetly, he said{(G5627)} unto him, Thou art{(G5748)} not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst{(G5707)} ask{(G5658)} him any question.

And Jesus answered{(G5679)} and said{(G5707)}, while he taught{(G5723)} in the temple, How say{(G5719)} the scribes that Christ is{(G5748)} the Son of David?

For David himself said{(G5627)} by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said{(G5627)} to my Lord, Sit thou{(G5737)} on my right hand, till{G302} I make{(G5632)} thine enemies thy footstool{G4228}.

David therefore himself calleth{(G5719)} him Lord; and whence is he{(G5748)} then his son? And the common people heard{(G5707)} him gladly.

And he said{(G5707)} unto them in his doctrine, Beware{(G5720)} of the scribes, which love{(G5723)} to go{(G5721)} in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

Which devour{(G5723)} widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers{(G5740)}: these shall receive{(G5695)} greater damnation.

And Jesus sat{(G5660)} over against the treasury, and beheld{(G5707)} how the people cast{(G5719)} money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in{(G5707)} much.

And there came{(G5631)} a certain poor widow, and she threw in{(G5627)} two mites, which make a farthing.

And he called{(G5666)} unto him his disciples, and saith{(G5719)} unto them, Verily I say{(G5719)} unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in{(G5758)}, than all they which have cast{(G5631)} into the treasury:

For all they did cast in{(G5627)} of their abundance{(G5723)}; but she{(G5625)} of her want did cast in{(G5627)} all that she had{(G5707)}, even all her living.
