1 Corinthians 8

KJV with Strongs (1611 / 1769)

Strong's Interlinear
1
Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know{(G5758)} that we all have{(G5719)} knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up{(G5719)}, but charity edifieth{(G5719)}.
2
And if any man think{(G5719)} that he knoweth{(G5760)} any thing, he knoweth{(G5758)} nothing yet as he ought{(G5748)} to know{(G5629)}.
3
But if any man love{(G5719)} God, the same is known{(G5769)} of him.
4
As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know{(G5758)} that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
5
For though{G2532} there be{(G5748)} that are called{(G5746)} gods, whether in heaven or in earth,(as there be{(G5748)} gods many, and lords many,)
6
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7
Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat{(G5719)} it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being{(G5752)} weak is defiled{(G5743)}.
8
But meat commendeth{(G5719)} us not to God: for neither, if we eat{(G5632)}, are we the better{(G5719)}; neither, if we eat{(G5632)} not, are we the worse{(G5743)}.
9
But take heed{(G5720)} lest by any means this liberty of yours become{(G5638)} a stumblingblock to them that are weak{(G5723)}.
10
For if any man see{(G5632)} thee which hast{(G5723)} knowledge sit at meat{(G5740)} in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is{(G5752)} weak be emboldened{(G5701)} to eat{(G5721)} those things which are offered to idols;
11
And through thy knowledge shall the weak{(G5723)} brother perish{(G5689)}, for whom Christ died{(G5627)}?
12
But when ye sin{(G5723)} so against the brethren, and wound{(G5723)} their weak{(G5723)} conscience, ye sin{(G5719)} against Christ.
13
Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend{(G5719)}, I will eat{(G5632)} no flesh while the world standeth{G165}, lest I make my brother to offend{(G5661)}.
