But there were{(G5633)} false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be{(G5704)} false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in{(G5692)} damnable heresies, even denying{(G5740)} the Lord that bought{(G5660)} them, and bring{(G5723)} upon themselves swift destruction.

And many shall follow{(G5692)} their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of{(G5701)}.

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise{(G5695)} of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth{(G5719)} not, and their damnation slumbereth{(G5719)} not.

For if God spared{(G5662)} not the angels that sinned{(G5660)}, but cast them down to hell{(G5660)}, and delivered{(G5656)} them into chains of darkness, to be reserved{(G5772)} unto judgment;

And spared{(G5662)} not the old world, but saved{(G5656)} Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in{(G5660)} the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes{(G5660)} condemned{(G5656)} them with an overthrow, making{(G5761)} them an ensample unto those that after should{(G5723)} live ungodly{(G5721)};

And delivered{(G5673)} just Lot, vexed{(G5746)} with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

(For that righteous man dwelling{(G5723)} among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed{(G5707)} his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

The Lord knoweth{(G5758)} how to deliver{(G5738)} the godly out of temptations, and to reserve{(G5721)} the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished{(G5746)}:

But chiefly them that walk{(G5740)} after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise{(G5723)} government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid{(G5719)} to speak evil{(G5723)} of dignities.

Whereas angels, which are{(G5752)} greater in power and might, bring{(G5719)} not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

But these, as natural brute beasts, made{(G5772)} to be taken and destroyed, speak evil{(G5723)} of the things that they understand not{(G5719)}; and shall utterly perish{(G5691)} in their own corruption;

And shall receive{(G5697)} the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count{(G5740)} it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves{(G5723)} with their own deceivings while they feast{(G5740)} with you;

Having{(G5723)} eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling{(G5723)} unstable souls: an heart they have{(G5723)} exercised{(G5772)} with covetous practices; cursed children:

Which have forsaken{(G5631)} the right way, and are gone astray{(G5681)}, following{(G5660)} the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved{(G5656)} the wages of unrighteousness;

But was{(G5627)} rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking{(G5674)} with man's voice forbad{(G5656)} the madness of the prophet.

These are{(G5748)} wells without water, clouds that are carried{(G5746)} with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved{(G5769)} for ever.

For when they speak{(G5726)} great swelling words of vanity, they allure{(G5719)} through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped{(G5631)} from them who live{(G5746)} in error.

While they promise{(G5740)} them liberty, they themselves are{(G5723)} the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome{(G5766)}, of the same is he brought in bondage{(G5769)}.

For if after they have escaped{(G5631)} the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled{(G5651)} therein, and overcome{(G5754)}{(G5736)}, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

For it had been{(G5713)} better for them not to have known{(G5760)} the way of righteousness, than, after they have known{(G5631)} it, to turn{(G5658)} from the holy commandment delivered{(G5685)} unto them.

But it is happened{(G5758)} unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again{(G5660)}; and the sow that was washed{(G5671)} to her wallowing in the mire.
