Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust{(H8802)} in the mountain of Samaria, which are named{(H8803)} chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came{(H8804)}!

Pass{(H8798)} ye unto Calneh, and see{(H8798)}; and from thence go{(H8798)} ye to Hamath the great{(H8677)}: then go down{(H8798)} to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?

Ye that put far away{(H8764)} the evil day, and cause the seat{(H8800)} of violence to come near{(H8686)};

That lie{(H8802)} upon beds of ivory, and stretch{(H8803)} themselves upon their couches, and eat{(H8802)} the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;

That chant{(H8802)} to the sound of the viol, and invent{(H8804)} to themselves instruments of musick, like David;

That drink{(H8802)} wine in bowls, and anoint{(H8799)} themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved{(H8738)} for the affliction of Joseph.

Therefore now shall they go captive{(H8799)} with the first that go captive{(H8802)}, and the banquet of them that stretched{(H8803)} themselves shall be removed{(H8804)}.

The Lord GOD hath sworn{(H8738)} by himself, saith{(H8803)} the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor{(H8764)} the excellency of Jacob, and hate{(H8804)} his palaces: therefore will I deliver up{(H8689)} the city with all that is therein.

And it shall come to pass, if there remain{(H8735)} ten men in one house, that they shall die{(H8804)}.

And a man's uncle shall take him up{(H8804)}, and he that burneth{(H8764)} him, to bring out{(H8687)} the bones out of the house, and shall say{(H8804)} unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say{(H8804)}, No. Then shall he say{(H8804)}, Hold thy tongue{(H8761)}: for we may not make mention{(H8687)} of the name of the LORD.

For, behold, the LORD commandeth{(H8764)}, and he will smite{(H8689)} the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.

Shall horses run{(H8799)} upon the rock? will one plow{(H8799)} there with oxen? for ye have turned{(H8804)} judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:

Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say{(H8802)}, Have we not taken{(H8804)} to us horns by our own strength?

But, behold, I will raise up{(H8688)} against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith{(H8803)} the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict{(H8804)} you from the entering in{(H8800)} of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.
