For the LORD will have mercy{(H8762)} on Jacob, and will yet choose{(H8804)} Israel, and set{(H8689)} them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined{(H8738)} with them, and they shall cleave{(H8738)} to the house of Jacob.

And the people shall take{(H8804)} them, and bring{(H8689)} them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess{(H8694)} them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives{(H8802)}, whose captives{(H8802)} they were; and they shall rule{(H8804)} over their oppressors{(H8802)}.

And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest{(H8687)} from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve{(H8795)},

That thou shalt take up{(H8804)} this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say{(H8804)}, How hath the oppressor{(H8802)} ceased{(H8804)}! the golden city ceased{(H8804)}!

The LORD hath broken{(H8804)} the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers{(H8802)}.

He who smote{(H8688)} the people in wrath with a continual{H5627} stroke, he that ruled{(H8802)} the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth{(H8804)}.

The whole earth is at rest{(H8804)}, and is quiet{(H8804)}: they break forth{(H8804)} into singing.

Yea, the fir trees rejoice{(H8804)} at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down{(H8804)}, no feller{(H8802)} is come up{(H8799)} against us.

Hell from beneath is moved{(H8804)} for thee to meet{(H8800)} thee at thy coming{(H8800)}: it stirreth up{(H8790)} the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up{(H8689)} from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

All they shall speak{(H8799)} and say{(H8799)} unto thee, Art thou also become weak{(H8795)} as we? art thou become like{(H8738)} unto us?

Thy pomp is brought down{(H8717)} to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread{(H8714)} under thee, and the worms cover thee.

How art thou fallen{(H8804)} from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning{(H8676)}{(H8685)}! how art thou cut down{(H8738)} to the ground, which didst weaken{(H8802)} the nations!

For thou hast said{(H8804)} in thine heart, I will ascend{(H8799)} into heaven, I will exalt{(H8686)} my throne above the stars of God: I will sit{(H8799)} also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

I will ascend{(H8799)} above the heights of the clouds; I will be like{(H8691)} the most High.

Yet thou shalt be brought down{(H8714)} to hell, to the sides of the pit.

They that see{(H8802)} thee shall narrowly look{(H8686)} upon thee, and consider{(H8709)} thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble{(H8688)}, that did shake{(H8688)} kingdoms;

That made{(H8804)} the world as a wilderness, and destroyed{(H8804)} the cities thereof; that opened{(H8804)} not the house of his prisoners?

All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie{(H8804)} in glory, every one in his own house.

But thou art cast out{(H8717)} of thy grave like an abominable{(H8737)} branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain{(H8803)}, thrust through{(H8794)} with a sword, that go down{(H8802)} to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet{(H8716)}.

Thou shalt not be joined{(H8799)} with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed{(H8765)} thy land, and slain{(H8804)} thy people: the seed of evildoers{(H8688)} shall never be renowned{(H8735)}.

Prepare{(H8685)} slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise{(H8799)}, nor possess{(H8804)} the land, nor fill{(H8804)} the face of the world with cities{(H8676)}.

For I will rise up{(H8804)} against them, saith{(H8803)} the LORD of hosts, and cut off{(H8689)} from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith{(H8803)} the LORD.

I will also make{(H8804)} it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep{(H8773)} it with the besom of destruction{(H8687)}, saith{(H8803)} the LORD of hosts.

The LORD of hosts hath sworn{(H8738)}, saying{(H8800)}, Surely as I have thought{(H8765)}, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed{(H8804)}, so shall it stand{(H8799)}:

That I will break{(H8800)} the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot{(H8799)}: then shall his yoke depart{(H8804)} from off them, and his burden depart{(H8799)} from off their shoulders.

This is the purpose that is purposed{(H8803)} upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out{(H8803)} upon all the nations.

For the LORD of hosts hath purposed{(H8804)}, and who shall disannul{(H8686)} it? and his hand is stretched out{(H8803)}, and who shall turn it back{(H8686)}?

In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.

Rejoice{(H8799)} not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote{(H8688)} thee is broken{(H8738)}: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth{(H8799)} a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying{(H8789)} serpent.

And the firstborn of the poor shall feed{(H8804)}, and the needy shall lie down{(H8799)} in safety: and I will kill{(H8689)} thy root with famine, and he shall slay{(H8799)} thy remnant.

Howl{(H8685)}, O gate; cry{(H8798)}, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved{(H8738)}: for there shall come{(H8804)} from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone{(H8802)} in his appointed times.

What shall one then answer{(H8799)} the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded{(H8765)} Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust{(H8799)} in it.
