Isaiah 48
KJV with Strongs (1611 / 1769)
✦Strong's Interlinear
1
Hear{(H8798)} ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called{(H8737)} by the name of Israel, and are come forth{(H8804)} out of the waters of Judah, which swear{(H8737)} by the name of the LORD, and make mention{(H8686)} of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.
2
For they call{(H8738)} themselves of the holy city, and stay{(H8738)} themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.
3
I have declared{(H8689)} the former things from the beginning; and they went forth{(H8804)} out of my mouth, and I shewed{(H8686)} them; I did{(H8804)} them suddenly, and they came to pass{(H8799)}.
4
Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;
5
I have even from the beginning declared{(H8686)} it to thee; before it came to pass{(H8799)} I shewed{(H8689)} it thee: lest thou shouldest say{(H8799)}, Mine idol hath done{(H8804)} them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded{(H8765)} them.
6
Thou hast heard{(H8804)}, see{(H8798)} all this; and will not ye declare{(H8686)} it? I have shewed{(H8689)} thee new things from this time, even hidden things{(H8803)}, and thou didst not know{(H8804)} them.
7
They are created{(H8738)} now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest{(H8804)} them not; lest thou shouldest say{(H8799)}, Behold, I knew{(H8804)} them.
8
Yea, thou heardest{(H8804)} not; yea, thou knewest{(H8804)} not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened{(H8765)}: for I knew{(H8804)} that thou wouldest deal very{(H8800)} treacherously{(H8799)}, and wast called{(H8795)} a transgressor{(H8802)} from the womb.
9
For my name's sake will I defer{(H8686)} mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain{(H8799)} for thee, that I cut thee not off{(H8687)}.
10
Behold, I have refined{(H8804)} thee, but not with silver; I have chosen{(H8804)} thee in the furnace of affliction.
11
For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do{(H8799)} it: for how should my name be polluted{(H8735)}? and I will not give{(H8799)} my glory unto another.
12
Hearken{(H8798)} unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called{(H8794)}; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
13
Mine hand also hath laid the foundation{(H8804)} of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned{(H8765)} the heavens: when I call{(H8802)} unto them, they stand up{(H8799)} together.
14
All ye, assemble{(H8734)} yourselves, and hear{(H8798)}; which among them hath declared{(H8689)} these things? The LORD hath loved{(H8804)} him: he will do{(H8799)} his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
15
I, even I, have spoken{(H8765)}; yea, I have called{(H8804)} him: I have brought{(H8689)} him, and he shall make his way prosperous{(H8689)}.
16
Come{(H8798)} ye near{(H8798)} unto me, hear{(H8798)} ye this; I have not spoken{(H8765)} in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent{(H8804)} me.
17
Thus saith{(H8804)} the LORD, thy Redeemer{(H8802)}, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth{(H8764)} thee to profit{(H8687)}, which leadeth{(H8688)} thee by the way that thou shouldest go{(H8799)}.
18
O that thou hadst hearkened{(H8689)} to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:
19
Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off{(H8735)} nor destroyed{(H8735)} from before me.
20
Go ye forth{(H8798)} of Babylon, flee{(H8798)} ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare{(H8685)} ye, tell{(H8685)} this, utter{(H8685)} it even to the end of the earth; say{(H8798)} ye, The LORD hath redeemed{(H8804)} his servant Jacob.
21
And they thirsted{(H8804)} not when he led{(H8689)} them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow{(H8689)} out of the rock for them: he clave{(H8799)} the rock also, and the waters gushed out{(H8799)}.
22
There is no peace, saith{(H8804)} the LORD, unto the wicked.
