Isaiah 49

KJV with Strongs (1611 / 1769)

Strong's Interlinear
1
Listen{(H8798)}, O isles, unto me; and hearken{(H8685)}, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called{(H8804)} me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention{(H8689)} of my name.
2
And he hath made{(H8799)} my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid{(H8689)} me, and made{(H8799)} me a polished{(H8803)} shaft; in his quiver hath he hid{(H8689)} me;
3
And said{(H8799)} unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified{(H8691)}.
4
Then I said{(H8804)}, I have laboured{(H8804)} in vain, I have spent{(H8765)} my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.
5
And now, saith{(H8804)} the LORD that formed{(H8802)} me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again{(H8788)} to him, Though Israel be not gathered{(H8735)}, yet shall I be glorious{(H8735)} in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
6
And he said{(H8799)}, It is a light thing{(H8738)} that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up{(H8687)} the tribes of Jacob, and to restore{(H8687)} the preserved{(H8803)}{(H8675)} of Israel: I will also give{(H8804)} thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
7
Thus saith{(H8804)} the LORD, the Redeemer{(H8802)} of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth{(H8764)}, to a servant of rulers{(H8802)}, Kings shall see{(H8799)} and arise{(H8804)}, princes also shall worship{(H8691)}, because of the LORD that is faithful{(H8737)}, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose{(H8799)} thee.
8
Thus saith{(H8804)} the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard{(H8804)} thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped{(H8804)} thee: and I will preserve{(H8799)} thee, and give{(H8799)} thee for a covenant of the people, to establish{(H8687)} the earth, to cause to inherit{(H8687)} the desolate{(H8802)} heritages;
9
That thou mayest say{(H8800)} to the prisoners{(H8803)}, Go forth{(H8798)}; to them that are in darkness, Shew{(H8734)} yourselves. They shall feed{(H8799)} in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.
10
They shall not hunger{(H8799)} nor thirst{(H8799)}; neither shall the heat nor sun smite{(H8686)} them: for he that hath mercy{(H8764)} on them shall lead{(H8762)} them, even by the springs of water shall he guide{(H8762)} them.
11
And I will make{(H8804)} all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted{(H8799)}.
12
Behold, these shall come{(H8799)} from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.
13
Sing{(H8798)}, O heavens; and be joyful{(H8798)}, O earth; and break forth{(H8798)} into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted{(H8765)} his people, and will have mercy{(H8762)} upon his afflicted.
14
But Zion said{(H8799)}, The LORD hath forsaken{(H8804)} me, and my Lord hath forgotten{(H8804)} me.
15
Can a woman forget{(H8799)} her sucking child, that she should not have compassion{(H8763)} on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget{(H8799)}, yet will I not forget{(H8799)} thee.
16
Behold, I have graven{(H8804)} thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
17
Thy children shall make haste{(H8765)}; thy destroyers{(H8764)} and they that made thee waste{(H8688)} shall go forth{(H8799)} of thee.
18
Lift up{(H8798)} thine eyes round about, and behold{(H8798)}: all these gather themselves together{(H8738)}, and come{(H8804)} to thee. As I live, saith{(H8803)} the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe{(H8799)} thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind{(H8762)} them on thee, as a bride doeth.
19
For thy waste and thy desolate places{(H8802)}, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow{(H8799)} by reason of the inhabitants{(H8802)}, and they that swallowed thee up{(H8764)} shall be far away{(H8804)}.
20
The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say{(H8799)} again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give{(H8798)} place to me that I may dwell{(H8799)}.
21
Then shalt thou say{(H8804)} in thine heart, Who hath begotten{(H8804)} me these, seeing I have lost my children{(H8803)}, and am desolate, a captive{(H8802)}, and removing to and fro{(H8803)}? and who hath brought up{(H8765)} these? Behold, I was left{(H8738)} alone; these, where had they been?
22
Thus saith{(H8804)} the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up{(H8799)} mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up{(H8686)} my standard to the people: and they shall bring{(H8689)} thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried{(H8735)} upon their shoulders.
23
And kings shall be thy nursing fathers{(H8802)}, and their queens thy nursing mothers{(H8688)}: they shall bow down{(H8691)} to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up{(H8762)} the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know{(H8804)} that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed{(H8799)} that wait{(H8802)} for me.
24
Shall the prey be taken{(H8714)} from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered{(H8735)}?
25
But thus saith{(H8804)} the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away{(H8714)}, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered{(H8735)}: for I will contend{(H8799)} with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save{(H8686)} thy children.
26
And I will feed{(H8689)} them that oppress{(H8688)} thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken{(H8799)} with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know{(H8804)} that I the LORD am thy Saviour{(H8688)} and thy Redeemer{(H8802)}, the mighty One of Jacob.
