Then came together{(G5743)} unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came{(G5631)} from Jerusalem.

And when they saw{(G5631)} some of his disciples eat{(G5723)} bread with defiled, that is to say{(G5748)}, with unwashen, hands, they found fault{(G5662)}.

For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash{(G5672)} their hands oft, eat{(G5719)} not, holding{(G5723)} the tradition of the elders.

And when they come from the market, except they wash{(G5672)}, they eat{(G5719)} not. And many other things there be{(G5748)}, which they have received{(G5627)} to hold{(G5721)}, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.

Then the Pharisees and scribes asked{(G5719)} him, Why walk{(G5719)} not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat{(G5719)} bread with unwashen hands?

He answered{(G5679)} and said{(G5627)} unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied{(G5656)} of you hypocrites, as it is written{(G5769)}, This people honoureth{(G5719)} me with their lips, but their heart is{(G5719)} far from me.

Howbeit in vain do they worship{(G5736)} me, teaching{(G5723)} for doctrines the commandments of men.

For laying aside{(G5631)} the commandment of God, ye hold{(G5719)} the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do{(G5719)}.

And he said{(G5707)} unto them, Full well ye reject{(G5719)} the commandment of God, that ye may keep{(G5661)} your own tradition.

For Moses said{(G5627)}, Honour{(G5720)} thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth{(G5723)} father or mother, let him die{(G5720)} the death:

But ye say{(G5719)}, If a man shall say{(G5632)} to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever{G1437} thou mightest be profited by{(G5686)} me; he shall be free.

And ye suffer{(G5719)} him no more to do{(G5658)} ought for his father or his mother;

Making the word of God of none effect{(G5723)} through your tradition, which ye have delivered{(G5656)}: and many such like things do ye{(G5719)}.

And when he had called{(G5666)} all the people unto him, he said{(G5707)} unto them, Hearken{(G5720)} unto me every one of you, and understand{(G5720)}:

There is{(G5748)} nothing from without a man, that entering{(G5740)} into him can{(G5736)} defile{(G5658)} him: but the things which come{(G5740)} out of him, those are they{(G5748)} that defile{(G5723)} the man.

If any man have{(G5719)} ears to hear{(G5721)}, let him hear{(G5720)}.

And when he was entered{(G5627)} into the house from the people, his disciples asked{(G5707)} him concerning the parable.

And he saith{(G5719)} unto them, Are{(G5748)} ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive{(G5719)}, that whatsoever thing from without entereth{(G5740)} into the man, it cannot{G1410}{(G5736)} defile{(G5658)} him;

Because it entereth{(G5736)} not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out{(G5736)} into the draught, purging{(G5723)} all meats?

And he said{(G5707)}, That which cometh{(G5740)} out of the man, that defileth{(G5719)} the man.

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed{(G5736)} evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

All these evil things come{(G5736)} from within, and defile{(G5719)} the man.

And from thence he arose{(G5631)}, and went{(G5627)} into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered{(G5631)} into an house, and would have{(G5707)} no man know{(G5629)} it: but he could{(G5675)} not be hid{(G5629)}.

For a certain woman, whose{G846} young daughter had{(G5707)} an unclean spirit, heard{(G5660)} of him, and came{(G5631)} and fell{(G5627)} at his feet:

{G1161} The woman was{(G5713)} a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought{(G5707)} him that he would cast forth{(G5725)} the devil out of her daughter.

But Jesus said{(G5627)} unto her, Let{(G5628)} the children first be filled{(G5683)}: for it is{(G5748)} not meet to take{(G5629)} the children's bread, and to cast{(G5629)} it unto the dogs.

And she answered{(G5662)} and said{(G5719)} unto him, Yes, Lord: yet{G1063} the dogs under the table eat{(G5719)} of the children's crumbs.

And he said{(G5627)} unto her, For this saying go thy way{(G5720)}; the devil is gone{(G5758)} out of thy daughter.

And when she was come{(G5631)} to her house, she found{(G5627)} the devil gone out{(G5761)}, and her daughter laid{(G5772)} upon the bed.

And again, departing{(G5631)} from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came{(G5627)} unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.

And they bring{(G5719)} unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech{(G5719)} him to put{(G5632)} his hand upon him.

And he took{(G5642)} him aside{G2398} from the multitude, and put{(G5627)} his fingers into his ears, and he spit{(G5660)}, and touched{(G5662)} his tongue;

And looking up{(G5660)} to heaven, he sighed{(G5656)}, and saith{(G5719)} unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened{(G5682)}.

And straightway his ears were opened{(G5681)}, and the string of his tongue was loosed{(G5681)}, and he spake{(G5707)} plain.

And he charged{(G5668)} them that they should tell{(G5632)} no man: but the more he charged{(G5710)} them, so much the more a great deal they published{(G5707)} it;

And were beyond measure astonished{(G5712)}, saying{(G5723)}, He hath done{(G5758)} all things well: he maketh{(G5719)} both the deaf to hear{(G5721)}, and the dumb to speak{(G5721)}.
