Romans 7

KJV with Strongs (1611 / 1769)

Strong's Interlinear
1
{G2228} Know ye not{(G5719)}, brethren,(for I speak{(G5719)} to them that know{(G5723)} the law,) how that the law hath dominion over{(G5719)} a man as long as{G3745} he liveth{(G5719)}?
2
For the woman which hath an husband is bound{(G5769)} by the law to her husband so long as he liveth{(G5723)}; but if the husband be dead{(G5632)}, she is loosed{(G5769)} from the law of her husband.
3
So then{G3767} if, while her husband liveth{(G5723)}, she be married{(G5638)} to another man, she shall be called{(G5692)} an adulteress: but if her husband be dead{(G5632)}, she is{(G5748)} free from that law; so that she is{(G5750)} no adulteress, though she be married{(G5637)} to another man.
4
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead{(G5681)} to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married{(G5635)} to another, even to him who is raised{(G5685)} from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit{(G5661)} unto God.
5
For when we were{(G5713)} in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work{(G5710)} in our members to bring forth fruit{(G5658)} unto death.
6
But now we are delivered{(G5681)} from the law, that being dead{(G5631)}{(G5625)}{(G5631)} wherein{G3739} we were held{(G5712)}; that we should serve{(G5721)} in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
7
What shall we say{(G5692)} then? Is the law sin? God forbid{G1096}{(G5636)}. Nay, I had not known{(G5627)} sin, but by the law: for{G5037} I had not known{(G5715)} lust, except the law had said{(G5707)}, Thou shalt not covet{(G5692)}.
8
But sin, taking{(G5631)} occasion by the commandment, wrought{(G5662)} in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
9
For I was alive{(G5707)} without the law once: but when the commandment came{(G5631)}, sin revived{(G5656)}, and I died{(G5627)}.
10
And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found{(G5681)} to be unto death.
11
For sin, taking{(G5631)} occasion by the commandment, deceived{(G5656)} me, and by it slew{(G5656)} me.
12
Wherefore{G3303} the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
13
Was then that which is good made{(G5754)} death unto me? God forbid{G1096}{(G5636)}. But sin, that it might appear{(G5652)} sin, working{(G5740)} death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become{(G5638)} exceeding{G5236} sinful.
14
For we know{(G5758)} that the law is{(G5748)} spiritual: but I am{(G5748)} carnal, sold{(G5772)} under sin.
15
For that which I do{(G5736)} I allow{(G5719)} not: for what I would{(G5719)}, that do I{(G5719)} not; but what I hate{(G5719)}, that do I{(G5719)}.
16
If then I do{(G5719)} that which I would{(G5719)} not, I consent{(G5748)} unto the law that it is good.
17
Now then it is no more I that do{(G5736)} it, but sin that dwelleth{(G5723)} in me.
18
For I know{(G5758)} that in me(that is{(G5748)}, in my flesh,) dwelleth{(G5719)} no good thing: for to will{(G5721)} is present{(G5736)} with me; but how to perform{(G5738)} that which is good I find{(G5719)} not.
19
For{G3739} the good that I would{(G5719)} I do{(G5719)} not: but the evil which I would{(G5719)} not, that I do{(G5719)}.
20
Now if{G3739} I do{(G5719)} that I would{(G5719)} not, it is no more{G3765} I that do{(G5736)} it, but sin that dwelleth{(G5723)} in me.
21
I find{(G5719)} then a law, that, when I would{(G5723)} do{(G5721)} good, evil is present{(G5736)} with me.
22
For I delight{(G5736)} in the law of God after the inward man:
23
But I see{(G5719)} another law in my members, warring against{(G5740)} the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity{(G5723)} to the law of sin which is{(G5752)} in my members.
24
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver{(G5695)} me from the body of this death?
25
I thank{(G5719)} God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then{G3767} with the mind I myself serve{G1398}{(G5719)} the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
